7 Cool + Refreshing Summer Drinks

Summer is quickly slipping away – but we still have a few pool side happy hours in us right? That’s why we talked to our friends and vendor partners over at  Ridgewells Catering and Occasions Caterers for a list of their favorite summertime drinks! (Note: Drinks are in no particular order.)

We talked to Ridgewell’s Creative Director, Amy Lewerenz, for the run down on her favorite cocktails!

Ridgewells Catering’s Picks:

1) Watermelon Basil Margarita

Silver Tequila, Triple Sec, Fresh Pressed Watermelon Juice, Fresh Basil, and Lime – complete with a sweet Watermelon Popsicle, it’s the perfect icy drink for a hot summer day.

2) Sangria

A classic favorite, we’ve put a fun twist on it with these great infusion towers, which make for a fun guest experience. Simply drip and garnish.

3) Spritzers

Check out these fun perfume atomizers, which make fabulous delivery vehicles for liquors in cocktails (we used Cream de Cassis, Grand Marnier, and Elderflower Liqueur in these ones)! Serve them alongside edible flowers and fruit garnishes on a roaming cocktail cart for a fun circulator at any summer soiree.

4) Crush Bar

We love fresh pressed juices in cocktails. Our Grapefruit Crush has been a big hit – Tequila, Triple Sec, Fresh Grapefruit Juice, shaken over ice and topped with a splash of Lime Seltzer. Serve them up in bulb glassware with colorful straws, or in highballs with citrus garnish.

Thirsty yet? Kayli Atha, Creative Associate over at  Occasions Caterer contributed her team’s picks!

Occasions Caterer’s Picks:

5) Blood Orange + Rosemary Negroni

Nothing screams summer like a negroni. We decided to bump up this equal parts cocktail and create a Blood Orange and Rosemary rendition. By adding fresh blood orange juice, we give it a little more depth, and the bitterness of the Campari is toned down for easy sipping.

6) Gin(ger) Spritzer

Spritzers are dominating the bars right now. It’s a simple cocktail that takes direction well. Add an herb here, a berry there and you’ve got a delicious drink on your hands. The key is quality over quantity. Choosing a quality Gin is of the utmost importance. For this spritz we add fresh ginger, and lemon rinds for a light and bright cocktail.

7) Strawberry Fields Spritz

Another refreshing spritz we’re sipping on is our Strawberry Fields Spritz. Taking a dry sparkling wine and adding a strawberry syrup, Capitoline Tiber Bitter, and loads of fresh strawberries this drink will get you through these hot humid nights.
